Where do you buy your service kit from in the Jhb area. I've used a combo of BMW/Midas/Autozone previously. Only use the best oil and GUD filters.

Anyone have experience with Goldwagen?

Normally i just send the car into BMW for services. But now, with the mileage getting higher i will send it to Tune Tech for big things and do servicing myself with the help of my private mechanic.

I will purchase filters and normal stuff from BMW as much as possible. Oil, i will buy from the JHB Liqui Moly rep.

So why some say a diesel is soooo expensive to maintain :thinking:

Why the diesel additive?

Diesel Additive, just used as a precautionary measure...to keep injectors clean, lubricity etc...add it every now and again....quite rarely infact...

I will recomend the following;

Make a list of all the parts you need ( I use an excel spreadsheet) call at least 3 spares shops and the dealer, include the brand name of all the various parts too and then make up your mind. The variences will astound you and always haggle with them for a better price. Lastly never ignore the dealers they can surprise you sometimes.

Was never my intention to save R200 dude...I always attempt to put the best in my vehicles that represent good value for money too.

Liqui Moly is just to tough to get in Jhb...in a previous thread, someone mentioned that you have to drive to Centurion to get the oil...Actually wanted Mobil 1(used it before and happy), but there was no stock at my spare shop...Also called Club Motors and was told that the oil I purchased is the recommended oil that comes in the car as well as the filters. Febi is GW's import brand and not BMW approved(so I was told). I'm sure that you also know that because something is made in Italy or Germany is never a guarentee that it is quality ot a substitute for OEM.

Agreed, where possible use the agents filters if reasonable, ie a couple of rands.

Cabin filter for example is not an option, R600 from agent vs R170 from spares shop, it was a Mann.

For typical service parts like filters, agents are often about the same price or even less than other parts places, but lubricants you are better off going to a parts shop or an actual oil depo like the Castrol depo that I go to - R60 per litre of Magnatec Professional 5W30 for the petrol I6's... Same oil from the agents is usually R90 or so a litre!
