Where can I sell old CAT?

I had my broken CAT removed from my 520D and asked for the part back - I know that it is worth some but cannot seem to sell it to scrap-yards.

Does anyone know where in Cape Town can I sell my old CAT?

Yeah...theyre worth nothing in this country.

Maybe a scrap metal dealer can give you money for the metal....

Amazing: when BM were going to replace the whole flow unit for R16K - R24K depending on what else they felt like replacing. They were willing to offer me R1000.00 for my old CAT.

wonder what's going on there.

How about a nice introduction thread first?

Just trying to add this post was difficult in itself. But here goes:
I stay in Cape Town (Parow area), own a 520D (2009 model) and do part time DJ'ing - therefore the DJ Busy handle.

Thanks for your wonderful replies... I opened myself up for the SPCA reply but that's the way it goes.

Did you ask BMW what they were going to do with the broken cat? Which flow unit do you refer to?

Oh and the normal place to introduce yourself is here

Catalytic convertors contain platinum and rhodium. The exhaust gasses react with these metals to get cleaned. So cats are worth some money if you know who to sell it to.
