When did this sneak in ...

Just noticed on BMW SA website that the new X5 and X6 is available with a new diesel engine (x40d). 3litre capacity, power is 225kw, torque is 600NM

I assume this is the new twin turbo diesel. Anyone know when this update happened. Was it done at about the same time when the 180KW diesel motors were introduced in the 330d LCI?

Also, what was the "old x35d" motor? Also twin turbo 3liter?

I'm losing track of the changes to the Diesel motors :dunno:

I see that... interesting. The x40d has been available on other models, including the new 5 series - but only in Europe to my knowledge. Wow though, same power as the x35i is faster and has better fuel consumption. BMW FTW! Did you notice that you have to use 50 ppm Diesel?

And it's strange how we get some engines only in some variations only. For example, we never saw the 335d even though the engine was in the X5 and X6.

Imagine a 340d now :dropjaw:

That is weird. Perhaps they didn't see it as suitable for the SA market. Who knows? I think a 335d would be pretty awesome. Well a 340d would be even better! You can also get a 335xi in Europe - x drive in a 335i? Awesome!
