Hi Fanatics - Compliments of the new year!!

So I recently changed my tyres - a coupla km's after I started hearing that winning noise (wooowoooowooooo). So i immediately thought tyres - changed the tyres put on the old pair - same noise - the noise increases as u speed up. So I then thought wheel bearings - is there any indicative measure that I can use to check this???

On a measure of 1 - 10 how hard can this be on DYI?

Heya

There is a tutorial some where on this. But i say leave it to the professionals especially if you don't have the tools.

Google the tut.

Cheers

on a 1 to 10 it's an 11. Ok, not so much, but it's definitely not a home DIY. Specialized tools required to safely pull off the old bearing and place the new ones. There are DIY's on the net. Search a bit then you decide. I did bearings on my polo, but that was like changing a bicycle bearing. The E46 has a bit beefier bearing at the back and I decided to outsource.

Seems front ones are more expensive

R629.03 each BMG

R763.00 each Autozone

R195 each Midas Midway (not sure if they are giving correct info)

R1272 complete hub each BMW

type 1 - R550ea type 2 - R260ea Midas Randburg

And believe it or not, still cheaper than a rear bearing/hub assy for a '99 model Toyota Corolla - and that was some years ago too!!
