What year did the X5 35d change to an 8 speed

I am having problems trying to find out when BMW changed the X5 35d to an 8 speed transmission. I have gotten several answers that do not match? I have been told the 2012 maybe and the 2013 for sure? Just thinking about trading up to a X5 35d with the 8 speed???
PLEASE let me know if some can verify for me

And part 2 to my questions, as I am a new member here, but I do all of my own service work and have been reading about all of the services that BMW says do not do, as they have a lifetime fluid in the transmission, etc.

I have 143,000 miles on a 2010 X5 35d that is running strong and no transmission problems yet, but want to change rear/front/and transfer case fluids too. Can anyone fill me in on the services for sure to perform and I run my diesel hard on long trips too.

I could be wrong but I thought the X5 changed to the 8 speed when they moved from the 35d to 40d around 2011. There should be no 2012+ 35d.

I had a 2011 X6 40d with the 8 speed

Thank You very much for your help! I have talked to several BMW technicians and so far have not gottten any help, but will study the 40d now. Jim in TN

Those are hard miles on the Interstate for 10 hour trips! I have another 2010 X5 35d that has 100,000 hard miles on it and running strong, so; just change oil and run the best oil that BMW says! Jim

I am going ahead and change front/rear differential fluids and the transfer case fluids; but still just unsure if changing transmission fluid can cause harm from 1000,000 miles plus-Help, give me a reason to change or not the trans fluid? Thanks, Jim
