What tyres? M5

So time has come to replace the rubber on the M5... running a crappy mixture Nankings and Maxtrek at the moment.

Car is a low km "weekend" type car but it does get hooned slightly... so I don't want to be counting dollars everytime I leave some rubber for SANRAL.

So what is the performance bang for your buck tyre at the moment?

Heard a few ppl saying that the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres are good.
The dealer changed the rears on my M6 to those before i took delivery so I'm running Pirelli PZero Corsa up front and Goodyear's at the back now :facepalm:
And I haven't used the car enough to give you a solid review but it could be an option?

Toyo Proxes T1 Sport if you can source them. My M3 and Z4M are running them and I am more than happy. Doesn't give you the mileage the Michelin PS2 or sport does but I'd rate it is at least 80% as good as the michelins but at half the price.

Agreed on the Toyo. I loved them and as a budget tyre, although they perform better than some premium brands, they would be my first choice but have heard good things about the Falkens.

My M5 lasted 10k KM's with my first set of Pilot Sports They were amazing though it you can justify the price.

I am personally a fan of the NS2 Nankangs. They work well, and they are well priced. Lasted a lot longer on the rears of the M5

Goodyear eagle F1 are great. I daily my M5 and haven't had a problem.

Rate I will see 20 000km to a set and at R12k a set that isn't bad...

The ZE912's I have on the rear have lasted 53 000km and still going.

That includes a few wheelspin launches :mmm:

Stay far away from Hankook V12... Had them on my M5 and they are snappy and unpredictable in the wet

I saw that's what you had on. I have Hankooks on the X5 and they are very cracked and chipped. They did alot of gravel road in Namibia but they are cracked between the tread blocks... so Hankook is not on the list anymore.

Pulled the trigger on the Continentals... off to have them fitted in an hour or so.

Decision was a combination of availability and performance. And Autoquip really pulled finger getting quotes and following up. They deserve the business.

Took my dad for a drive... I think its the first time he has intentionally drifted!!

Anyway definitely need new tyres TODAY.
