What to buy - E90 320D or F30 320i

Howzit ladies and gents

I am in the market for a newer car.

I was looking at the following, but fuel consumption might become an issue. 125i coupe, E90 325i or E90 330i.

I have now reconsidered. Might be looking at a 2012 E90 320d or a 2012 F30 320i. Budget +- 300k

What is the real world consumption on the F30 320i? I do mixed driving although very spirited!!

Your opinions will be much appreciated.

The 320i will be less economical. I had one for 2 days only and compared to a 320d it's not as economical.

However the 8 speed gearbox on the F30 is a blessing. And based on that alone I would recommend the F30...

But why not consider the F30 320d as well, or is this a major price difference?

If an F30 320d is within your budget, then it's a no-brainer :thumbs:

Errm I got a 320i and with driving 120 most of the time and the occasional sport mode let it rip I get about 800kms to the tank well 700kms + 90 odd reserve as I do not drive it dry.

your budget is extremely high for an E90 320d as you can pick up 2012 sport pack models with under 50 000km for R250k .

i would rather break the bank and get an F30 320d as the new gearbox and ligher weight makes it more fuel economical than the E90 320d.

Hey bud, as the rest have said, get yourself the F30.
New design, fantastic gearbox, better suspension and a more complete package all-round. The 320i beign a turbo responds well to tuning, but if you can get the 320d, you will not regret it.

I have owned these cars and the F30 320d is hard to beat and will suit your circumstances.The F30 320i gives about 800km to a tank and the F30320d 1000km easily.Tested these two cars head to head and there was nothing in it.

Definitely the f30, looks better than the e90 imo, and comes with more stuff standard

The problem is the 320d F30 is just out of my price range.... +- 350k

I test drove an E90 320d tonight and will know by tomorrow if the car is mine.

Will keep you guys posted.
