what suspension changes?

Hi Guys,

I am not going to change my car much, I want to keep it 100% stock, only considering change the head unit to Dynavin, CSL air box (maybe) and coil overs....thats it.

Can you guys give me advice on something I can get locally? I had in mind:

Anyone made the change on their M3? Costs?

coilovers are not always the best choice... maybe i should ask 1st what you are trying to achieve with suspension im sure i can work out a package that suits you best

I am just looking to possibly tighten the front end up on turn in. Notice a far amount of lean on the front. I have read that this is down to the fact that the e46 is a heavy old girl.....


I would look to do a bit of track but nothing major......

What sort of costs are we looking at?

M3west for that i would recommend a good adjustable shock setup... you set the rear harder than the front this gives you initial understeer when turning into a corner...

i can offer you Koni yellows:
Front R 5070 Pair
Rear R 3450 Pair

to reduce lean you need sway bars... with H&R adjustable sways you get less lean and you can fine tune the handling...

H&R front and rear sways are R 8391

I would fit the shocks 1st then decide if you need sways because adjustable shocks will greatly improve the situation and you may not need sways :rollsmile:

Do you setup in conjunction with any other aspect of the car? As mentioned I would like to keep the car stock but feel the shock change would make a change to the handling?

The only reason I am interested is my E91 Touring with M suspension handled so flat and solid that when I first drive the M I was surprised by the roll.....

when you do alignment
set front toe to 0 and get as much camber up front as you can leave the back at recommended specs this with the rear shocks adjusted harder than the front will eliminate your undesteer issue...

with the sways you will have less body roll and better control...

its just a matter of budget you can literally spend as much as you want on suspension you have to decide what number makes sense for you

i also have H&R coilovers, but the above setup is more than more than enough for your needs
