What oil to use on E46 with Close to 300k on clock

As the Subject states, What oil to use??

Fordicks BMw in tygervally advised me to use Shell helix 15W40
Auric in Claremont advised 5W30
SMG Century City advised 10W40

Reason i ask, Lifts seem lekker noisy at idle.
When driving, the lifter noise is gone...
Oil pressure and Oil level is all good..

What are your take on this??
Does it even matter??

Im currently using 15W40

My 2c.

Go for the 5w30.

Lifters make a noise when they don't get good oil supply. Maybe a 'thinner' oil will assist.

Im using Castrol Magnatec 10W40 & I'm on 290k+ on the clock & everything feels and looks fine... no problems when driving.
