What do you miss? (comparing the old bmws to the new)

As the topic asks ... Over the years Bmw have changed their designs ... Arguably some design elements for better, some for worse

The new models are becoming faster and more ozone friendly but with every new iteration some of that Bmw character is lost as well

The one design element that was typical Bmw was designing everything around the driver ... Really loved the cockpits of old where the fascia (that piece where your typical radio sat) was angled towards the driver .... These newer models with their flat fascias suck ... This is what I missed ... What your design element that you missed?

Have to agree with you on the fascia design.

For me additionally i'd have to say its the change from the normally aspirated 6's to the turbo charged 4's. BMW over all the years has been renowned for klapping the snot out of competitors with their standard engine outputs versus the others turbos and superchargers.

That tone from the exhaust was also unmistakable.

Yup ... These turbo cars not the same as the naturally aspirated ones ... Oh and a three series five and seven were different cars inside and out ... These days all these bmws are so similar ... Esp the interiors

Agreed with all the points above but also.....

The fact that the 8speeds autos are better/preferred than the manuals.

Bmw makes the best manual gearbox (in the world possibly). It's almost an occasion to change gears...

Sadly we are seeing fewer of these!

:fencelook: I miss the basic Mechanics that worked better than the rest, now they are all very similar.
And yes the tone of the exhaust told you a BMW was approaching from a distance.

All of the above and I don't like the round, dome style roofs.
I preferred the flat straight roofs the pre bangle cars had.
Eg. E28,30,32,34,36,38.

I miss that mercs were dull and boring in comparison. The engines outclassed all others in their respective classes. M cars were superb and affordable and could keep up with the finest supercars. Nowdays theyr getting fat, heavy and the engines and driving dynamics arent as special as they were when compared to the other germans. e46 and e39s where the last to completeley blits the competition

Dipstick.

Lol... Double lol ...but true

I recalling if you had the computer thingy you could put in a code that will prevent the car from starting ... But easily bypassed if you forgot the code

The high revving 6's and the unmatched orgasmic tone.. Also preferred the driver centric cockpits and the old bimmers simplicity. I'm all for technology but it has to be aimed in the right direction.. the Drive. Fk being able to email or bookface in the car and screw them 75kg electric massaging seats:thumbdo:

Reliability, my mom's E36 316i is currently sitting at 322000km, had it for 7 years, absolutely nothing spent except services, tyres, brakes.

My 3 E46's were quite problem free as well, but my last E90 and current one, that's another thing.

Looking like I'm going to spend a lot on my tractors gearbox soon at 83 000km???
