e46 330i! Beautiful car, in "Manuel" of course. 2004ish with 100k on the clock should set you back about R140-160k

I have a 320i and I so badly wish I had a little bit more oomph.

Thats not bad, but i guess the power will suck on the reef compared to the E36.... If i can pick 1 up for a luck 45-50K that will be my run around...

My brother in law is on his 2nd E46 318i and he's very happy with it.
Safe, enough power, and very light on fuel !

But whats your purpose for this car? u want it as a spare family cruiser or a replacement for he M... cos even a 330i wouldnt satisfy your power demands then!!

As you know i drive a 330 individual, manual. Best everyday car i have ever driven so far and i have driven a lot.

I was down in DBN and had the pleasure of driving a e46 M3 CABRIO for the week, i came back to JHB to drive the 330, sorry to say but it feels like a 1300 now... So in you situation, go for a 330 or even a 320 but the 6 cyl one. As long as its manual, fuel wont be a problem.

Have you considered a 330d. Chip one of those and you won't miss the e36 ...

I've owned a 318i and upgraded to 325i. Very happy with the 325i, especially since its an individual sport.

Go Individual as long as its a 6cyl and yes maybe manual is lighter on fuel but tiptronic better for traffic and fun to drive... I drive mine like a manual and some people dont even know its Tt.

I have an e46 318i, with the exclusive pack, with 18" mags. It is a decent run around everyday car and both reliable and economic.

Also have an e36 m3 3.0 for the weekends.

@ M_Pow, the power drop on the 318i, isnt that bad, but you should take one for a test before considering it.

If you are keeping the M, then get a luxury car for your run around. e39 525i? Not too expensive on juice, not fast like the M, but not slow like a 318i or 320i. Good cruiser and luxurious on the inside. A bit off topic I know. If your heart is set on an e46 as a run around car, individual 325i facelift.

hmmm

interesting u bring up the e39... i like those in the f/l...
what do u mean not to expensive on juice... service costs etc?

Maybe a Yaris T1 or Corsa bakkie run about...:)

Prini - I think the power drop from the 3.2 to a 318 2.0l is gonna be massive...

I'd lso suggest the E39 acctually, super comfortable, see if you can find one with comfort seats. will be much better than a e46, but dude, seriously. the 330d can be REALLY mean if its modded. I've driven some E46's and they are really cool tho, E39 is just slightly more comfortable and slightly bigger.

I say go for a 318i Individual (estoril blue will be great:))

I drive my M everyday, but it is a hard car & not meant for heavy traffic. U dont need power going to work, just comfort. On wknds, just jump into the E36 & fire up the S50B32 & all will be right with the world. Also if you drive a slow car in the week, the M is gonna feel vrek fast again...LOL

Individual E46's are pretty good looking cars, try & get one of those rather. Sure resale is also better as demand high/supply low.
