Now you tell me when should they stop fixing the car. After another month, let's say something else goes wrong.....who is responsible then.
It's easy to get all up in arms, bottom line it is a 2011 model vehicle and there are bound to be things that go wrong.

After 6 months Jerry. During this time should anything go wrong it's up to you to resolve. This is law. Only then should an aftermarket warranty be relevant.

This is exactly the reason why I am not claiming from the warranty. The CPA is applicable and not merely a "goodwill deed".

If the car is too "old" to sell in reasonable condition, then why sell it at all?

You guys don't know the full story.

I really mean this in the most sincere way possible, if this is your attitude towards a customer, irrespective of what model is purchased, you have just convinced me to never walk into LH Centurion. :thumbdo:

What ever happened to "the customer is always right"?

Hey there dude,
Surely you should know that customers are not always right.

Sorry you feel that way

I certainly don't agree the the customer is always right. There is, however, something to be said for the willingness of a dealership to make good where they are legally bound to do so. Ignoring the CPA (willfully or not) by trying to weasel out of your legal obligation is what sets some dealerships apart from others.

I guess there's a reason why some dealerships are mentioned for bad experiences more often than others.

Aag no man Jerry. Through all that has been said here, that's the post you choose to answer? Come now, I'd like to see healthy debate on this matter. If people are wrong here, tell them why?

The way i see it is that no one is wrong.

Clearly there were issues with Ferdi"s car and the dealership assisted in resolving the issues. I agree that they should fit the bill for customer piece of mind.

But when does it stop being the dealerships responsibility??

A lot of you know me and is always trying to help where i can, thats just how i am.

If there is something that i can help resolve then i will take it up with the salesperson to see if there is something that can be done.
This is not my department within the dealership and i will gladly try and help.

Regards
Jerry

Bud, at the risk of sounding like a broken gramophone, I've said it before. After 6 months. This is not my opinion, its law. I know you are new to the motor industry, but I can't help but wonder why you are asking this question repeatedly? Is this the sentiment shared behind closed doors with the rest of you colleagues? I apologize for putting you on the spot here, but your comments are making me wonder if there's a bigger issue at play here? This might sound contrite, but are you guys even aware of your legal responsibility here? I'd really like to know the answer to this.

I know that some dealerships are aware of CPA. They won't allow a customer to supply parts for their own car to have repairs done, as it can put them at risk of the cpa. Funny enough, there's hardly any complaints mentioned here about them. Other dealerships allow this, but have strict back to back agreements with their suppliers to honor any warranties through the supply chain. I know this as I'm in that supply chain.

So I ask again, are some dealerships simply unaware of the CPA?

That's bad Morne

At least you got the car sorted now. This thread needed an update. Lots of newbies.

Today, they sent me an SMS:
"Dear Mr Xxxxx (bmw), Thank you for servicing your vehicle (XXX xxxGP) at AutoBavaria. Tel (011)6974700."
This after they did nothing!

Some dealerships are above the law... CPA, what CPA?

A simple list will make this thread so much easier. Why aren't the mods, moderating.

The detailed rants need to be moved.

I just bought a car from Zambesi, the experience was exceptional.
I would highly recommend, them, specifically the Salesman, Velen Coopasamy.

And I had a completely opposite experience from Zambesi in 2014... It was of such a nature that I gave the car back and they refunded me. :thumbdo:

+1 on Zambezi being a great dealership.

We have never received anything by superb service from them:praise:

Sometimes detailed rants is needed, like mine this morning. A "friend" blatantly dissed me on a public forum, when he very well know my history with that dealership, he works for.

Not ONCE was there an attempt from that dealership to change my experience. Yes might look like a senseless rant, but i paid a lot of money for that car, to be traumatized by their arrogance. No, i paid that money to enjoy a premium brand. it might be nonsense to someone else, but its my reality, and yes its still an issue for me.

The reason for this thread is to update the list. your good experience is a + for Zambesi. It gives dealerships, if important to them an opportunity to change client perception from a negative to a positive.

I will pm Shaun to ask him to update the list.

It doesn't matter what year it is, I want to see you wait in limbo for about two weeks for R205k to be paid back into your account if they promised to do it in a couple days. The bad taste sticks, unfortunately. I know it's in the past, but I personally will never forget the experience.
