I might sound slow but is this gear knob still available? And will it fit the e46? Will work nicely with my 318i's black and brushed aluminium trim

i have the normal leather gear knob, the emblem can be removed quite easily. just get something thin under it (like a small screwdriver or razor blade) and pry it off. The emblem is stuck on with some sort of double side tape.

what does your knob look like?

Thank you very very much!! I pmed you my details. The gera knob that I will send to you also spins around, but I have heard that if you put tape around the shaft and push the knob in it will solve that problem.

If you can use thread tape , the stuff plumbers use, insulation tape fades after a while.

Are you sorted? I got an original shortshift 5 spd with ///M and brushed metal on the base - knob for the e36... from BMW. Paid like R600 for it. It's new. What offers...

Okay guys the gearnob is still available but vincelang currently has dibs on it, if he doesn't take it then Lunatik is next and if that doesn't work then Jaunef its yours. Should have put it up for sale a long time ago know that I see all the interest :)

To swop the emblem on top is super easy, the E46 ones fits perfectly in the E90 one an NO you can't use a permanent market that's just stupid and it will look super tacky.

Except when removing a gear lever you are more likely to bash yourself in the face than changing socks :) (trust me it can happen :))

This e90 works a bit differently to other if I am not mistaken, you fist remove the top bit that show the gear numbers then remve the screw inside the hole, this will allow the aluminium bit to slide off then you can remove the gearnob.

awesome so if i get an e90 gear know it should be easy to remove the "emblem"
there must be a name for the number thingy on top the the gear stick
