Welding a window regulator

So on Saturday evening when closing my driver's side window I heard a loud crack and my window got stuck.

Turns out that the one arm of the regulator broke off. See the yellow part in the picture.

Looking at the 3 small spots where it was welded/brazed/whatever I'm actually surprised that it lasted 15 years.

Anyway, is it possible to weld those pieces together? There's no room to use rivets. I would rather spend R1k on a welder than R750 on a new regulator or pay someone R50 to weld it for me.

What about Pratley Steel? From the instruction leaflet: "Pratley Steel is a high performance adhesive, metal filler and mender. It is formulated to set hard and match the colour of most ferrous metals. It can be filed, sawn, machined and sanded within 1½ hours of mixing."

Pratley steel is not nearly as strong as 3 proper spot welds. Maybe post a photo of the part. Don't think you are going to spend R1k on a welder and be able to weld sheet metal with it.

unless you have done alot of welding you will make a mess of this job...

Rather take it to a place and see what the quote you to weld it...
