Precisely... Now explain the corrolation between the brutal annihilation of in excess of 6 million people and your statement?

Meh...nothing wrong on my side bud, just that empathy should be displayed for an issue such as this. Respect should be afforded to the victims of this tragedy and not tasteless attempts at humour...

Please read the below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

The Swastika is commonly associated with Nazis yet is origins date back to even before Europe had any civilisations (i.e. Ancient India).

dont just hate or make statements of hate cos it is thought that this is a Nazi or Racist Statement by the driver of the car. I dunno who was driving the car in the pic, and the OP hasnt given much more info either.

Read the above link. It is very interesting.

So WyKid is it the Symbol that caused the genocide or the people that wore the symbol on their clothing. You made an assumption and did not go and make sure of the facts.

So are your underpants to small ?

the emotion displayed in the thread demonstrates the point.. regardless of the ancient origin of the symbol, today most people associate it with genocide, and it provokes strong emotion one way or the other.. so why on earth put it on your car, unless you want to provoke people?

the driver was a oldish gentleman and his wife, nothing out of the ordinary..

Lol to the newly educated, I am well aware of the Indian(Sanskrit) origin of the symbol...

Now for lesson no:2 go back read and comprehend this time...
As a result in the western world the Swastika has been strongly associated with Nazism and related ideologies such as Fascism and White Supremacism since the 1930s. Its use is now largely stigmatized in the west; it has notably been outlawed in Germany if used as a symbol of Nazism.

So in your estimation this thread was created to highlight what exactly???

What is with the obsession of male underpants, something you not telling Beastie...

What gets me about the 2nd world war.

People seem to overlook the fact that nearly 60 million people died, yet it is always about the 6 million.

Go figure....

@WyKid the underpants thing comes from a joke I heard a while back. I'll give you the short version. This guy went to a few doctors with a problem of a headache that started right between his eyes, all of them said that castration was the cure, so he did it and the headache stopped.

The day after the operation he treated himself to a new set of clothes, the salesman guessed everything from hi hat size down to sock size, but when it came to his underpants the salesman guessed large and the guy said no he wears a medium. The salesman then informed him that if he wore a medium underpants he would most probably get a splitting headache that would start right between the eyes.

So if somebody is cranky I always tell them their underpants is a size to small.

As for the symbol I knew that the commanders in charge of the Roman armies had it on there helmets. And was also part of the insignia of the city of troy.

As for the genocide that took place, it is part of the past, and it does not help to dwell on the past. Yes it was bad but nothing anybody can do about it now.

As for the guy driving the car, he is free to express himself as he wants to.

Let me put it this way, The hammer and sickle internationally represents global Marxism and the deaths caused by the people following this belief, and political agenda have killed 40 times more people in the world than Hitler ever did.

But the SACP can use this emblem freely, and apparel adorning the hammer and sickle get sold in shops world wide, but nothing get's said about it.

We digress, I’m all for freedom of speech but people should also show a modicum of common sense and sensitivity. Case in point being the “struggle song” that JZ and JM use to whip up the crowds, this was branded as “hate speech” and the courts were involved....freedom of speech???

The past is the past agreed, but we should also learn from our mistakes so that they are not repeated.

Back to the top, was merely enquiring as to the relation between the motorist displaying the swastika and you stating “Maybe he is just making a statement .. Tired of all the crap the government comes up with day to day that we have to just bend over and take it”. I was not questioning him displaying the symbol but the relevance to our government. Personally I doubt many of them would even recognize the swastika…

This individual can certainly continue with his display, imo and a few others as indicated it is just in poor taste.

P.S Castration is never an option rather take 2 headache pills and keep your man bits in place…

@WyHid I Agree we should learn out of others past mistakes. But our government of the day are continually repeating others mistakes, and at the looks of it, are not going to stop any time soon.

When I was a reckless teenager in the eighties, an equally reckless mate of mine went to South West Africa (Namibia since independence in 1990) for a holiday, and came back with a bunch of modern Nazi related bits such as bumper stickers and table top flags for our punkish amusement. This kind of stuff was, not sure if still is, allowed in that country at that time. So maybe this fellow is ex SWA. Just a thought.

I believe in the freedom of belief.

The intent of putting the Swastika on the car is what should be questioned.

I am a proud Hindu, and as such have been to many many religious gatherings. at these gatherings there are usually alot of goods for sale in aid of some charity or the other. Alot of the time there are bumper stickers or similar car adornment that include a swastika image.

Us judging this guy and saying that he should not have included the the swastika on his car is basically the same as saying that I should not put this on my car either.

I dunno that guys history, nor does anyone here. We dont know his intentions for having that image on his car.

Sure, What happened during WWII was a terrible thing, but we should not marginalise those using the swastika image and brand them as Nazi's.

Herr Kowlassur, out. Auf Wiedershen.

@Moranor - +1 for doing things properly. I always say if youre gonna do something, do it properly i.e. if youre gonna fix something fix it properly, or f@#k it up properly.

This can quickly become a very hotly debated topic. Thanks for bringing some light heartedness back to this thread.
