Looks like just rain so far

the one over Rustenberg has a defined red core, as does the lower one on the Vaal river as well

heading towards us in Gauteng though, looks harmless enough.....FOR NOW

UPDATE

the weather seems to have calmed down, judging by the way in which the thunder cell has broadened and flattened out, this usually indicates that the updraft phase, has started to die down, thus ceasing any further formation of hail stones

we might be lucky that this one, when it reaches Gauteng will give us a nice display of lightning and rain abd thunder, but no "little stones"

Rolling thunder can be heard in Randparkridge

when you compare the Irene 300km range image to earlier ones, you can see that the two bigger storms have essentially collapsed

I do see a smaller little cell has just started to develope to the west, and it might be worth watching

but I am leaving the shop now, and I know that my crappy laptop at home (it is one the way out) crashes whenever I attempt to use the image uploader, so these images might be the last ones for a while.
