South went dark for a couple of minutes, drops of rain.

But looks like we are going to live...

And here I thought the rain would at least get me out of taking my daughter swimming... No Zombie apocolapse, no sleep in saturday morning...

and a new line of vicious thunderstorms has started to develope in a line Potch thru the Vaal triangle towards Villiers

just saw it visually when driving home from the shop, and it looks like it is developing seriously.

the trend is slowly drifting towards JHB in about 2 hours time, whilst moving generally in an easterly direction

This early morning system can still be seen in an advanced disspiating phase out to the North-East

this system is moving fast, probably in JHB within the hour.

seems to not be so bad, yellow contours normally don't lead to any significant hail

looks like the storm in now over Mid-Vaal/Meyerton areas already

yellow dBZ however not high on the hail probability scale

was going to take an afternoon drive, but will now wait it out, maybe even unplug the ADSl in case of lightning strikes

Your best protection is to unplug the DSL line. Nothing can stop lightning from taking it out.

Buy an ellied electrical surge plug that Comes with a 20k cover. follow the instructions and if anything blows while on that plug, if you registered it with them, they will sort it out. Grand idea with adsl and TV. Cover is for 1 year. Plug around R400

Yes you do. Most power packs have them built in these days.

APC makes great surge protectors.
