Right. Time to revive this thread. I'm getting messages of rain coming this weekend. I'm looking forward to it but not looking forward to hail which the first few storms usually bring.

currently over Soweto, moving East to North-East towards O R Tambo.

the red shading indicates that it severe, and the last time I saw these colours was the hail storm over Edenvale/Germiston/Alberton last year

Mossel Bay is known for having very temperate weather. So no sudden changes to worry about.

Half an hour away in George, however, you need to prepare for all 4 seasons in one day

That coastline does not usually suffer from heavy hail. Rainy season is during winter and sometimes long periods of rainfall can occur in Spring, but thunderstorms are not common there.

There's a bit of activity. Cell over Joburg looks like it's moving south-east. Amber shading indicates heavy rain. More cells to the west also moving east but not sure what they will bring.

Go caught in big hail storm last night where you from from the N12 onto the N1 by Aeroton. I can't believe how inconsiderate and stupid some people are. They parked under the bridge across the freeway so that it actually stopped all traffic flow.......... How can that be allowed? I was sat behind these idiots for a good 15 minutes while the hail pummeled my car. 5 minutes down the road just before Gordon Road there was not even a spot of rain.

I'm in the South Of Joburg and I can confirm it was hectic from 18:30 it didnt stop till around 19:30 and around 21:00 it started all over again.
