Water Pump & Thermostat for n54 engine

Hi

Yesterday as I was driving to my parents place the car indicated that it was overheating with a orange symbol, not even 100m further the symbol turned red and the car didn’t want to drive at all.

To make the story short we discovered that the water pump wasn’t working.

Where would I be able to get one and what do they go for.

Locally I have only found the water pump at the agents at R7500 :flyfun: I am bringing a batch in that should land in 10 days for a substantially cheaper price.
The thermostat normally does not go when the water pump fails. I have a spare one due to changing it for nothing.

Well removed the water pump and the thermostat yesterday. Its looks like the water pump is gone.

I have been shopping around and it seems that these pumps are scares, doe any one have an idea of someone who might have one.

Automech in vanderbijlpark chareged me for a new waterpump incl fitment R1300-00.

Maybe they can supply you with the spare?

Don't know if its too far out for you?

Guys when you get a new pump make sure its part # 11517632426 which is the new pump. Part # 11517588885 is the old part and there may be some still laying around at the factory so insist in this if you at the dealers.

The 135i run on a elek pump,and they go for R7250+- by bmw,they quoted me R 12000 to install a new pump with thermostat :argh:

But i got a lead on someone selling one for R1800. raise:

I want to know if it is possible to test a water pump without installing it.
Can I just plug it in and the do water pump prime test and see if it spins up, or does the thermostat also have to be installed.

Well my nightmare with this water pump is still on:argh:, the guy that supplied me the 1st one has supplied a 2nd one that is also not working. So while I am busy fighting with him to get my money back I found a brand new one for sale. Unfortunately they guy couldn’t keep the pump one side any more for me and used it.

Does anyone know of a N54 Water pump that is for sale?
