Wastegate Rattle

Correction. Forge sells waste gate actuators.

Issue is with wastegate flap which is part of the turbo housing.

M3_devil so u recommend I just replace the turbos?

replacement of the turbos would be the best and most logical choice as tightening up the actuator rods mostly dont yield any positive results because the bush in the exhaust housing that the wastegate runs on wears and as a result the flap doesnt close tightly anymore...

fresh turbos are also a pleasure to drive...

ps. i did some phoning around end of 2014 and was quoted approx 2/3k per turbo to completely overhaul my old turbos with new parts as long as the housing wasnt damaged. they are Mitsubishi tdo3 based and genuine parts are easily available.

pps. i also spoke to a fellow fanatic who paid in the region of 25 or 28k to have his turbos's "upgraded" while serviced with no appreciable increase in power, so beware when promises of better performance is being tossed around.

Kish, thanks for that. Makes sense to replace or overhaul them. Peace of mind as well i guess.

I've also got a rattle, only on cold start though? It was there before doing DP's, but just more noticeable now with DP. Car hauls ass and if thats the down side to catless DP, fine by me. If possible to reduce it would be great?

Nope still the originals. I'm on 90,000km and out of motorplan

If/when it gets worse I'll either upgrade turbos and go crazy boost or the sensible option seems to just get em serviced.
If your still under plan, get BMW to replace now.

I would go with Kish's advise above and get them serviced? R30k for new turbos to stop a rattle is excessive? If I'm going to have to lay out R30k I want some added performance and would rather spend more and actually get better turbos. But turbo upgrades can get really expensive. But also massive performance gains

As Kish mentioned. The bushing on flap is issue.

Remove and overhual is best option and cheapest.

As Kish said and from personal experience I would just suggest having the turbos removed and overhauled if no damage has been done to the housing.

I don't think the upgraded turbos are worth it or have any real benefit unless you looking along the lines of RB's or Vargas.
