Washing spares with paraffin?

Quick question, is it good practise to wash engine spares with paraffin or will it byte me in the arse due to whatever reason?

Solvent engine cleaner is part paraffin.

Depends what the engine parts are, if you want to remove abrasive residue for engine rebuilding then nothing beats soap and water. If it's just cleaning off the grease then paraffin is fine.

paraffin is also safe on rubber seals etc, so that it why it is recommended to clean o/x ring bike chains, instead of a "heavy" solvent like acetone, etc
