WAKE UP CALL M5 E39

Just when you think you know everything you almost see your gat and this gives you new found respect for a car.

Driving on the N2 in the M5 today I am cruising at about 120 and pass a truck on the left hand side and accelerate slightly next minute a patch of water is hit and the aquaplaning starts and the tail goes so its counter steer correct and control is back but boy was it touch and go .

Technology and superb engineering can only do so much be careful out there chaps:rollsmile:

I had a similar thing, water on Marine Drive but wasn't nearly as bad as this sounds.

Even by todays standards, the traction control is fantastic in there cars. Drops the power and brakes individual sides of the car Glad everything is ok!

I had the same thing on the N2, overtaking a truck, hit a patch of water and the back got loose as :argh:

I was in the E30 then, luckily I could catch that one also. Had no ASC+T to help so needless to say I had to wash a set of undies that evening

Yep, wide tyres are superb in the dry, but very easy to aquaplane, so what those puddles, especially if you have wide rear tyres!!! :idea:

Yeah, know this feeling, makes me shit bricks. Well handled there. Tyres obviously also have a part to play. My old Michelin's gripped very well in the wet, even though they were pretty worn. My set of four new Falken's are far more slippery, but not too bad. Then again, they cost less than half the amount of the Michelin's, so at least it's not half the grip. :=):
