VW Polo Playa - Full respray

One of the full resprays we had done on our opening special and I must say this was a challenge considering the state of the paint. But....thats what we are here to fix

The paint was old, faded, cracked, scratch, panel with dents, you name it, this car had it lol

So we got to work. We got the car stripped, pulled, fixed and filled all the dents, and the set about preparing everything for paint. The bonnet had to taken down to the metal as the paint had cracked all the way through. Once everything was sorted, we then gave the body a blow over in Tornado Red base and then added clear. We also painted the rims in gunmetal grey.

The owner is still waiting on his order of the side sills so once we get our hands on those, they will be painted and fitted.

Kuvi out of interest how do you get full paint on the rims with the tyres still on? Do you deflate and unseat the bead?

I ask cos with the runflats, when I have had rims refurbed in the past the tyre shop always manages to nick the flippin' rim putting the tyres back on....the nicks are slight and barely visible but I know theyre there

We deflate the tyre and use a squeegee to push the edge of the masking paper between the tyre and the rim. That way we can make sure the rim gets painted without messing the tyre and also dont have to worry about damaging the rim when refitting the tyre. we just re-inflate it
