VIN Decode is Giving Wrong Cars Details

Hello everyone,

I am very concerned about the brand new car which I bought today as when I check the VIN from realoem for parts, I noticed that the VIN is taking me to E36 318is, however the car is G20 320i.

I think there is no solution to this problem as BMW has no right to deactivate VIN of an older vehicle.

So does it look like after the warranty period I will never be able to find any part because of BMWs serious mistake?

Look forward for your replies soon.

So most VIN decoders would have stopped operating in the past few months, or giving "incorrect" details, as BMW is starting to reuse old VIN numbers, which is probably why you ended up with an e36 when you punched in your G20 VIN.

Most VIN decoders will have a disclaimer to reflect this new change, or would have just shut down all together. If you enter your vin under the BMW "my vehicle dashboard" you might have better luck.

I would find the owner of that 318is and tell them to go get everything repaired and replaced on their car under motorplan.
