Evening members of the forum. I have a e36 325i and I recently replaced the vanos seals as the vanos was rattling. The problem is after doing that the car has loss of power below 3000 revs, the power kicks in at around 3200-3500 revs, its like driving a car with a turbo. Could anyone please tell me what the problem could be.

hi

check the wires to vanos, make sure they not craked or broken.
also the slightest offset from the exact position coud cause this.
did you use the vanos plastic alignment tool when putting them back.
is it double or single vanos?

It's a single vanos, I used a cam locking tool to lock the at TDC and a vanos spanner to pit it in. Could it also be a faulty solenoid, if the wire is fine?

You did it wrong

Vanos rattles due to steel spacers and not seals.

Your cam alignment will likely be out if you did not use the correct tools
