Vanos o'rings

I keep on having to replace my exhaust vanos solenoid o'rings. Actually just one of them keeps on popping. On inspection it seems there could be movement because the damage looks like fraying. Could it be that there is movement in there? It is the S50B32 M3 motor.

Yeah that could be the case. If so you can either fit a shim on the back of the cover or get the cover skimmed.

Thanks, I had that suspicion, I wonder how much though?

Canyou assemble with a small piece of plasticine in place and then take apart and measure thickness of plasticine ?

Yes I could but I'm not too sure if there should be any gap left for expansion. I will try tomorrow, thanks for the help guys.
