Vanos m50

Hi fanatics. So I've been searching and reading a few posts with regards to vanos diy.....

my vanos is very rattly....even at idle. The motor in question is an m50b25. 270k km.

My question tho.... will replacing the seals help to get her purring like a kitten again or am I facing something waaaaay more expensive?

If the vanos is "rattly" you may require the rattle kit installed as well.
Typically the M50 does not suffer from rattles on the vanos so it could well be something else.

The seal kit is available from "moranor" as is the rattle kit.

Thanks guys. My car stands during the week so at least she won't get worse. I'll look into it ASAP. With regards to the locking tool....is that only available at the stealers?.

DJ - my buddy had the similar issue with his 328i. ended up making a bullet hole in the motor. apparently something to do the chain guides and tensioners and the chain was too loose and caused the rattle and something broke and there you go, broken engine.
