Hi all,
So I'm busy with bits and bobs on my car, and the sound deadening under the bonnet is looking in a sorry state. Not sure if it's from getting wet with the odd engine clean over the years, or whether it's simply old age.
It seems very brittle, and no longer locates in the slot tabs on the bonnet on each side, only the mounting screws in the middle are holding it up. If I flick it with my finger, it seems to crumble and deposit a layer of dust all over the motor.
From what I've read it's for sound deadening. Are there any negatives to remove it completely?
It's not like the N52 is a crappy sounding motor that should be seen but not heard, and I don't think the engine heat should affect the paint on the bonnet at all.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks
