UK Police Force bans B57 diesel engine

Read on YouTube ( I know you can't believe every word) that the UK police force has put a ban on buying BMW's for the force due to the 3l diesel engine causing engine fires. It seems the egr valve is the problem as it sticks open causing the inlet manifold to heat up and burn holes through the inlet pipework causing "fires", which i assume is the rubbery sound deadening on top of the engine under the engine cover smouldering causing smoke and a bad stench. Had first hand experience of this causing the car to go into limp mode and scaring owners! Had to fit an egr delete kit plus code the egr valve out. We were fortunate as the holes were on top of the manifold and we could plug them with some plastic stuck on with Q-bond. It is still holding.

Coding out the EGR does help from what ive read... interestingly, the M50d has a metal intake manifold for the N57.

Not sure if this is a direct fit onto a 330d ...have not come across anyone doing the swap.
