Hi Mike, I've replied to your PM, have been a bit busy. Blue Beastie, ja, after 2 320d's with about 4 sets of tyres RFT's between them, and the RFT's on the Mini, I feel I owe my back a break

Still not sure what I'm going to do if I ever get a puncture, it doesn't happen for a year, and then I got two over since Saturday! At the moment, I'm considering getting the mobility pack if I can find a dealership that knows what I'm talking about (SMG Durban doesn't have a clue), or doing the unmanly thing and just phoning road side assistance when it does happen

I'm thinking of getting non rft's simply for the comfort issue too. I want to get one of those biscuit wheels that comes in a carry bag. Since I dont use my boot, it should just fit, othwise I'll leave it on the back seat.

The only thing that would hold be back regarding this is BMW bitching about warranties, but I'll speak to my contact close to the time.

Yesterday the weather in Durban highlighted just how badly my tyres were worn!:flyfun:

Fitted Bridgstone Re002's at R1100 each (non RFT) and, to be honest, it's a bit of a mixed bag with regards to how I feel.

First set of tyres in 4 years that aren't runflats, and the difference is amazing! The ride is so much more comfortable, but, the tyres feel very squirely.. Previously, I could grip the wheel and go around a 90 degree bend and the car just followed perfectly, now the back looser, and it feels like the tyres flex a bit. will double check pressures today, and it may be that they need to be scrubbed in a bit.. Driving up to Jo'burg this afternoon, so hopefully they settle after a 1000km or so!

Great, i think i am heading in the same direction!

What profile did you go with and did you manage to get the repair kit?

I stayed with the stock size, 205/45/R17, I tried 215/45 and they looked like all terrain tyres, and 205/40 looked like tiny.

Haven't got the repair kit, I haven't had much time lately, and I've been using my van for work.

Thanks, did you have any issues with changing from rft to non rft with insurance?

On my other thread, one off the members said it would be a problem when putting in a claim as not factory spec?

I'm not sure about insurance but I know BMW won't assist you if you have a flat if you change to non rfts.

This is annoying. I just invested in a sparewheel kit because I wanted to move away from the rft's...

Can anyone point me to a source at bmw that can confirm where exactly you stand if you change your tyres etc? Would like some facts before going off on a tangent
