Hey guys/girls,
I have a (what seems like a stupid) question about tyre sizes. So my E87 still has its stock wheels on (205/55 R16 - front + rear). But my backside has been itching to change the wheels to make it look a bit sexier and I would like a broader tyre on the rear since that's where the driving wheels are. Now I've been looking at other Beemer's sizes and, ideally, I would like to change my wheels to:
Front: 225/45 R17
Rear: 255/40 R17
Besides the obvious fuel consumption issue, many people have told me that I can't really do that because the ABS/Traction will constantly complain because the size differences will be interpreted as the wheels spinning at different speeds thus activating it. Is there a way around this issue and/or are there any other recommendations out there that I could follow to avoid this specific issue?
I'm not an expert in this field so any and all advice in this regard will be much appreciated!
