A) u must a import SARS customs code
B) u must phone SABS/NCRS in PTA and apply for a import permit
i) u must explain these tyres are for Motorsport use. I.e semi slicks
ii) if necessary send them ur MSA license(not required)
iii) letter if need be why u need to import I.e no local stock, blah, blah
C) SABS/NCRS will issue a permit to this effect, if u have the necessary make, size, manufacturer, thread pattern, dot or E mark approval from supplier etc...form I think is MA38B or A needs to be completed or both Not sure.
NCRS should have a list or homologated tyre, makes, size, importer, s just check before hand with them. If they have on there list apply for only 3-4 tyres max.
I don't think you should have a problem getting the permit issued, but, 1st time is a ball ache, cause I think u need to register your company or entity importing requesting the permit first, then easy to get when u want to import again
I'm going to there this week if I can to renew my permits, so I can find out for you or phone them directly. Ask for vehicle Automotive regulatory division they will help u.
Ask them exactly what is required, as u will need to get some info on the tyres u want to import
