Was thinking what kind of title to give this thread and decided to tell it as it is :) Forgive the spelling and grammer..still recovering.

The BMWcarcapetown pitched at 11am for the car & sound show off as well as the annual Carnival at Paulus Joubert High School, Paarl and was greeted with a festival that was still being organised.

The only other clubs that were there sorted and busy was the drift/burnt-out squads and the Opel car club.

The clubs were thrown right at the back of the school grounds away from all the action and the crowds. I was told by the organiser who were away at the time when we arrived that the security guards gave us the wrong allocated place.

Anyway the BMW club stayed till 1.30pm and decided to leave because it appeared that few clubs would pitch. I decided to stay to do some networking and hoping that things would turn out better. The Opel club welcomed me amongst them especially the chairperson Lugun & his deputy Azeez.

By 3.30 the place really came alive. The carnival was on the way and hundreds of community members were attending. In fact the later it became the "festive" it became including the beer garden, which was very well organised and controlled by the security.

The legendary Rockets (music band) also featured.

The clubs that attended inluded:
The BMWCarClubCapeTown
Opel Car Club
TRD Toyota Club
Toyfreaks
Kraaifontein drifters
Drift squads
Other names i cannot remember
Some nissans & hondas

I was (eventually) impressed by the turnout and the support of the community.

I left the evening at 7.30pm and the place was truly a carnival with street bands/clowns and all sorts of entertainment happening. And the young people coming out to play.

I was told that street racing was also planned to happen later the evening.

The various carnival activities took place on the Rugby field just next to the show off area. Did not take any pics.

The Sound Off competition started at 3.30pm and about 11 cars (i think) participated. This was quite interesting and it is amazing how well people build their cars to make the loudest noice but also how good the modifications were.

The Show & Shine competition started at 4.30pm and three judges took their time with each car that competed...i counted about 29 -32 cars.

The results were announced at 7pm and by that time the place was abuzz and i was exhausted.

So what a surprise when my car was called to receive the first trophy for (best interior) and a bit later for (best engine bay) and towards the end of the anouncements another trophy for (overall winner)...which is a floating trophy which i have to defend next year again. :excited:
I hope Revo & Matt will help me keep this trophy in the Club :excited:

My first time to see Jandre's 325...eish wish i can have it....would like to make more time to take better quality shots of his ride.

Tips for next year:
1. We will arrive an hour before the show & shine competirion starts so that our cars are clean & cool. We can can then join the racers later in the eve....
2. Come better prepared with chairs and gazebos etc....

Will post the videos in the week.

cool pics Twinz & well done with the trophies

I just can't believe you put them directly onto that beautiful paintwork:dunno:

Your approach is interesting and your car will certainly hold it's own & kick some ass amongst some local big hitters

Well done. That a great pic of all the black cars under the trees.
With more notification, we can get a crowd together there, even a breakfast run to the venue beforehand.

Thanks guys :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Not to worry the trophies had some velvety stickers underneath.

@Matt...From what I have read and heard about your stage 3 conversion Twinz will get her ass kicked into oblivion...but then again no one will want to gauge with you. So first we will have the milkshakes then we can paint the town red...okay?

Have to say I am surpriced that it got that festive, at first glance I wouldn't have thought it. If we just got the right times, it may have been better.

Well done Twinz. Sry you didn't get the paint job trophy, even with the help of freeriders "magic" cloth...

Agreed, next year we do it proper, bring on the banners guys...

O and I promise that next year my baby will have her compeditive dress on... Well at least I will wash her.

Well done Twinz. Making us proud.

Yeah, the E30 needs some TLC now. The paint is good, motor and gearbox is good, suspension has been refurbished, but the leather needs some TLC, and there is 3 cracks on the dash.

Oh yes, and the rims. The rims need a refurb too.

The leather is scheduled for December, when Rick has some leave time due.

The car has been with us since new, back in 1987, with 165 000 km on the clock.

It was my brother driving my car :)

After driving the 135i to paarl and back, I can say with no doubt that I would own one in a heartbeat

I did not realise it was your car, it looked stunning and it shows how much we put into our cars.

Yolandas 135 is one of a kind and the brakes are very powerful too.

My brother still commented afterwards that it doesn't feel like you driving a 7 year old car.
