On my wife's 320i e46, the turn signal to one side flash faster sometimes but most of the time it is ok. All 3 bulbs are flashing when doing this. Can someone please shed some light on this!

No warning on the dash! I know that on some older cars if one globe is out, it will flash faster because of the lesser current via the unit.

It's a 2001. I thought of that as well. I have checked the brightness of the light. Seems fine.

It is a ground wire problem. The rear cluster has been under designed with regard to the ground wire.

Just fixed this exact same problem on my mates 318i ( pre face 2001 )
Sometimes when he indicates to the right the circuit flashes quickly for a few flashes then returns to normal speed. sometime it works 100%.
If you google ground wire for your year model you will find a very quick and easy DIY. Simply add another ground wire to the circuit.

Hope this helps

Jump in late last night on this one. Measured the voltage drop between the ground on the light fitting to the negative of the battery. It was more than two volt. While the fault was on, i put in a temp. jumper to ground and the fault clear.
I have a perm. jumper now from the ground to the ground of the light assembly. All seems fine now. Thanks a lot for the help. Another good, easy and cheap DIY.
