A lot of guys have been asking me what the turbo upgrade I am doing entails. Unlike normal cars the 335's exhaust housing is built into the exhaust manifold as one piece so changing the turbos simply is not a easy option unless a complete manifold is made. This is pretty hard as BMW uses unique flanges that inset into the head which means to manufacture a new manifold will require expensive laser cutting to get the flanges correct.
So this leaves you with the only affordable option of upgrading the wheels in the existing turbo's. Below are pics of the OEM wheels and the upgraded ones.
The company I have chosen to buy these units -Rob Beck Turbos- also does a billet upgrade to the waist gate assembly which ensures longevity as the original BMW design is flawed. The oil and water fittings are in the stock location so this is truly a bolt on application.
As everyone can see the term of Big Turbo Upgrade is quite misleading as the only thing big about these turbos are the internal wheels.
