What you mean on this by getting it bigger by a turbo company. yes i did but the the housing blocks you going bigger then what it is... i am looking for a bigger turbo that i could put on without mods to the mounting of it. same as on the Golf 5 Gti by putting a ko4 straight on..

Simple answer is: No.

There is no single turbo solution that will offer you better performance, which is why BMW went with the borg-warner R2S twin-turbo setup on the 535d.

On the other hand, the GT2260 you have on has lots of potential, but you cannot harness it with the injectors you have on the car, you need 535d injectors to go further.

:argh: thats a couple off bucks there and since i don't have the right gearbox must maybe end the project and get something right from the word start... should i get the 535d injectors do they fit just as good and quick as say S3 injectors does on a g5 :fencelook:

I believe the injectors fit right in, but I would have them done at the same time as you get the car remapped, preferable at the same shop, since you would need remapping to get the most of them and they might need to be coded to your ECU since you have an E60.

GT2260 does not require 535d injectors

@ Kinnear G5 GTis dont just need a K04 Turbo theres lots of other hardware goodies needed as well, K04 straight onto a BWA engine will be pointless

E60 530d has a decent turbo in it, rather look at other hardware goodies to help it, stock turbo at about 1.6/7bar is good for about 180kw atw

its not really a question of the stock turbo requireing 535d injectors, more like the other way around.. the stock turbo can (marginally) supply enough air to support the 535d injectors..

535d injectors have bigger nozzels, thus delivering more diesel in the same injection window , making more power.. even on top of a remap.
but you need to cram in more air..

@ netercol

Spray flow pattern is determined by the ECU , fitting bigger does not equate to a larger amount of spray but i get what you saying hence my suggestion to rather look at hardware mods before going bigger turbo in the Diesel.

I understand what you say its not just slapping on a turbo you need bigger cooler and injectors and fuel splay etc on the G5. but going back to the diesel if you looking for the same gains on the diesel what can be done
///MOS1TED ===If you say Hardware goodies what should we look at?
Coz cooler i don't think that would be a difference
Cats are out all ready software is done but i am talking about getting the car to run in the 170km/ 1/4mile bracket and up.

Diesel mods to do that should average 170-180kw atw based on 530d and 330d motor (edc16 i think it is)

1) Software or ECU tune that can overcome Torque Limiters etc if applicable
2) Induction of some sort for breathing
3) Downpipe with removal of cats
4) Intercooler
5) Water/Meth or Avgas

Above configuration will make any Diesel run

If you want more power
1) Do above
2) Bigger Turbo
3) Injectors
4) Upgraded Pulleys ( Vibrator Dampner etc)

Hope this helps
Remember Diesels are known for Torque , make sure gearbox internals etc can handle the extra NM

of course it does, why do you reckon the 335d/535d has bigger nozzels to start with? its partly why the first gen 335d/535d engine makes 200kw ?

the volkswagen tdi community are far ahead of us in terms of diy diesel modding, plus they have more choices regarding injector swaps.. have a read here, the engines are vw but the principles are the same..

Dude VW maybe head of us in terms of tuning or forum talks as you say but lets look at the facts. Have they ever run in the 13s with a DIESEL here in SA? Dont read oversea forum and compare , Diesel quality here in SA is completely different over and above weather conditions.

FASTEST 330 DIESEL IN THE COUNTRY = 13.8SEC at Tarlton and ODI

200kw at the wheels and 680nm out of a Diesel that still has to be run with this setup surely says otherwise.

Currently owning the above car with supporting mods I would fully disagree on the injector sizes but I guess each to his own

;)

Seat 1.9Diesel here in South Africa, fastest time is a 13.6! CPI Software with some more mods....

Lots of us in the racing industry dont count times run at the coast that is timed with stopwatches but hey i wont argue that point , 13.6 is a good time

As far as I know it was at a MSA event at killarney.... So not sure what you meant with your coast and stop watch question?

As far as i know CPI cars that did times were at DBN?

Prove your statements in that case.
