Trusted Private Mechanic in JHB

Hi guys.

My mom's E46 320d pre-facelift has been standing at a mechanic in Kempton for almost a year, she has a R28 000 repair bill but has not taken delivery yet as the car is still not running as it should, the mechanic says the car is losing power (hp not volts).

I advised her to get him to check the Actuator, EGR, MAF and Boost Sensor but he has given up on the car and says he refused to touch it until he gets his money.

Told her to cough up, cut her losses and collect the car.

Is there still any decent mechanics left in this world? Someone who knows what they are doing and will not charge the cars book value to check it out?

This car has financially ruined her over the past 2 years and she has replaced the turbo 4 times already.
