Buddy used them to transport his Golf 6 R from CT to JHB in January. No hassles.

Put it on the train.
It is the cheapest and safest.
I know some of the guys with the Cobras do that.
They put the car on the train and also climb aboard, enjoy the train trip to CT, use the car there for a week, get it back on the train.

I do this, best way to go on holiday! They have single deck carriages for 4x4s and larger vehicles, some people transport their Harleys to the coast this way. Last time I did it was in peak season and it cost R2140 each way.

In 2005 I sent a car to CT with a company called A.A Care in Kempton Park. They transported cars by truck and were very good at the time.

I dont know if they are even still going but give them a try

The European car manufacturer we're developing software for uses VDS to get cars from the harbour to dealers all over the country. They seem to be quite efficient. Don't know about pricing though.

VDS dont do collections AFAIK. You have to drop off at the depot, which is in Strand in CT.
My buddy paid +-3k

Use Shosholoza Meyl... My friend works in CT and transports her 125i up every year with them. Not a scratch.

Less than R2500 each way...

No luck with VDS, they do not transport cars older then 15 years....!

Geez...what's their reasoning for this?

Insurance.
Example - A 15 year old e36 M3 in mint condition would easily fetch R100k although the insurance would only pay out R60k if it should get damaged beyond repair

Yip insurance reason given.......and they have had problems in teh past with older cars......
