well iam also starting to doubt so called brilliant mechanics,ie zeemax, they were suppose to check my car tip top before i took delivery of the vehicle and now bmw says all 4 control arms are shot.....wtf?

illuminiati, remember it could just be one thing thats screwed thats causing all these errors, alot of the components in our cars work hand in hand so if one is not working the rest could also be throwing out an error.but for final piece of mind, take it to bmw.dont get a fright when you get the qoute to fix these probs...bmw qouteed me almost R12 000 just for the control arms no labour..

Well, I'm not paying a cent. D'metri motors said they will, after I said I'm not paying for their mistakes, or rather problem I bought from them. Dynotech quoted R19k to fix it :dropjaw::shocked:

The only thing I can't understand is the steering angle sensor. If your car is under motorplan, especially since BMW's motorplan is arguably one of the best & you paid top dollar for your, if there is anything wrong you'll get it fixed right?

So the moment something is wrong, you hear a squeek or whatever the case might be you take the car to BMW. Why is it then that the steering angle sensor had a malfunction & it was fixed when they serviced the car on 34k. Then sensor was replaced @ the 73k service? Does this mean there's no error or anything you will notice when the sensor breaks?

I'm wondering whether or not if the car is fixed if I should'nt just trade it in on something smaller. Something that won't cost R20k to fix when something small breaks. :bawling:

dude, take if from me,you have to break a couple of eggs to make an omelet.just get it sorted,i know its frustrating but take it from me,even if you buy a gti and something breaks, its gonna cost a lot of money.if you want a low maintainence car them maybe look at getting a chico or something, the point iam trying to make is all new cars today be it ford, opel, honda etc have expensive components and if it breaks its gonna cost...if you want quality, your gonna have to pay.imagine how i must feel.i had to fork out nearly R5k for brakes,R3k for mafs, and now R4k for suspension.and my previous cars i also had to fork out money for repairs.it happens

HAHA freerider.

Yeah SS, I can only imagine how you feel. I was really contemplating getting something smaller, but eish I like this 330i. I'll survive, but just a little disappointed that I have to sit with this 2 weeks after I bought the car. Atleast I don't have to pay, so I guess it's not a total train smash.

Hello gents

A few days since my last post, got capped & did'nt feel like spending R65 just for one night & also just came back from a small break to Strand. Only had one day in the sun on the beach, damn the wind in Cape Town is a ruthless bitch.

Anyway, in the meantime my car was at BMW. They replaced the steering angle sensor & they "recoded" the gearbox control unit. Not really sure about the "recoding", the workshop manager said they got new software for it & it no loner gives them the error. The car however still had a transmission error. Thye replaced the gearbox oil, they said it was burned pitch black & after replacing it it was 100%.

After the work was done they said the MAF is giving them errors, this after two other independent mechanics said the MAF is 100% (BMW confirmed it was working flawlessly when they initially checked the car), so they replaced it & another R5200 later. I did'nt have to pay a cent.

I'm getting my car back Monday morning & I can't wait :)
