Trail rated ... jeep

So tonight we came across a jeep grand cherokee ( well , he followed us into the dunes from parking lot....) which got stuck a couple of times in the sand.

We turned around to offer help and the gentleman said his vehicle is trail rated and dont need our help .

What does trail rated mean ? In sand ? Turn tc off or choose sand setting on a dial ?

Didnt work though....
