Vita Nova Centre is a nonprofit residential facility in Springs that are registered for BEE (94.82%) N.P.O - P.B.O (Section 18 A) and VAT (4810112872). They cater for persons with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism and the Physically and Mentally challenged. Some of their children are blind, deaf or have HIV/AIDS.

Vita Nova Centre is home to 108 children/children aged between 7-71. The majority of residents in the home are abandoned and need 24 hour care.

Vita Nova receives government subsidies but still has a short fall of R300 000 a month. They are in dire straits and need urgent funding and donations to keep their doors open.

This is how Operation Hope Grows was born…- together with my group of friends we saw the urgent need and could not turn a blind eye or our backs on individuals that cannot fend or help themselves. (Where would they go, and at what risk, as many are totally dependent for their everyday needs- from turning-toileting-dressing-feeding etc.)
And so… WE BRAIN STORMED

We as ordinary working individual ladies from various communities are doing our utmost best to stop the doors at Vita Nova Centre from closing. We have a team of mostly LADIES that are sacrificing their time to assist our brothers/sisters/abandoned humans to live in a comfortable -healthy and safe environment. I stress the word LADIES as August when our event is being held is WOMENS month.

In April our team started off with a couple of urgent projects to try and raise the funds for the Centre as quickly as possible.
This is what we have achieved so far for immediate relief.

1. SMS donation line is up and running—text “HOPE” to 49040 to donate R15.00
2. Flyers, Radio advertising, media advertising
3. Take the pledge campaign. 2000+ pledges of R100 are desperately needed per month to create a sustainable income. (Debit forms / EFT or pledge online www.operationhopegrows.co.za)
4. Raffle tickets – 5000 tickets (500 books) R20 a ticket, R200 a book.
5. Bracelets and craft items hand made by the children of the Centre are being sold.
And the best to come… 29th AUGUST 2015
WEMMER PAN, 11th Street, La Rochelle from 9:00 – 21:00
We registered our event with the Guinness Book of Records, and have their approval!
So
On the 29th of August 2015 Operation Hope Grows will proudly be hosting a fundraising event from 9:00 - 21:00. The idea is to BREAK the Guinness World Records with the most people gathered in one location making heart shaped hand gestures. (Present record holder is the United Kingdom).

Our goal is to break the record, build awareness around the mentally and physically challenged and raise as much funds as possible by selling entrance tickets; having great music and entertainment, loads of craft, food and beverages stalls.
A potjie competition – e.g. 10 or more companies challenging their competitors.
The potjie competition will be judged by 3 passionate celebrity chefs, Dudley Wellen (executive chef and owner of Crazy Culinary Studios), Edward Clegg (Double Olympic gold culinary medalist) and Georgie Georgiou (Executive chef at Silverstar Casino and holder of Guinness World Record).

We will have over 300 crafters selling their yummy goodies/handy crafts, cheese and wine tastings, Harley Davidson Bike Club, Fire demonstrations, Brian Mitchell (ambassador to Vita Nova) Pierre Coetzer-signing autographs, blood bank, Pony and Camel rides, face painting, sand art, jumping castles, clowns, various fruit characters entertaining the children, Running/walk race, customized car show, dog agility demonstrations and the list goes on.
We are pulling out all the stops to have “THE” Musical Fountains operational; the picnic baskets/ blankets will be set out to enjoy the wonderful tranquil surroundings around the fountains. Please note space is limited to 150 –please book early. (Blankets will be donated back to the Centre.)
Our mission is to create a fun day out for families and friends all for a good cause. There will be silent auctions and hampers raffled off and also lots of prizes that can be won on the day.

Brent Lindeque from Cliffcentral.com will be one of our MC’s for the day with a full line up of local singers and bands, line dancing by the kids of the Vita Nova Centre and motivational speakers.
Raffle tickets—are on sale now with wonderful prizes to be won on the day.
Donation bins- will be in place for clothing (under wear and socks are desperately needed)-non perishable foodstuff, educational toys, grown up nappies, towels, linen etc.
We urgently need “your” support –together we can make this event the huge success it so rightly deserves. Not only do we need the manpower but we need financial assistance as well as sponsored prizes.
So come on board either as a partner or participant on the day.
