Anyone here recieved a fine recently?

I recieved 2. But i reckon these guys are smoking some good SH!TE as they are charging extreme prices.

1. was doing 92 in a 80 zone...they fined me @ R750?!?!?!
2. was doing 73 in a 60 zone....fined me same as above

I cheked around on line to see the "pricing scheme" for fines

I saw the fines i got was more like for doing 100+ in the 80 and 80+ in the 60.

Is there some how that i can dispute the amounts? i am not saying i didnt speed...i did...but not paying those amounts. they mad. it should be R350 with 50% discount if you pay it quick.

The fine scedule link you posted is soooo outdated, they used it fine Noah in the Ark.
those amounts are wrong. :nono:
The new fines are indeed the one you got, R750 with 50% discount if you pay within the specified time period.
The article on the AARTO notices, thats all good, BUT, dont just go and not pay, and tomorrow they come to collect you at work. :hammerhead:
Rather phone the number on the fine and make sure...NEVER ASUME!!! ALWAYS MAKE SURE!!!
It might very well be that your fine is cancelled, or withdrawn, but like I already said...
NEVER ASUME!!!
Please guys, always do your homework, a phonecall is all it takes.

Good advice as usual Coisman.

A phonecall, letter or some form of communication is the best way to go.
Before AARTO, this approach normally resulted in a substantial discount. Just don't ignore it and hope it will go away.

The officials are normally reasonable providing of course that you don't get harde gat...:hammerhead:

Just reading the AARTO charges and is interesting.

Charge code 2326
Operate pedal cycle not equiped with brake/brakes on rear wheel.

FINE = R100.00

But all jokes asside. Go read the charges. It is brilliant now they just need to apply these to all cars on the road. And not just cerry pick ._

Thats crazy. I got caugt doing 85 in a 60 Zone and got R300, paid within 30 days and only paid R150.

Hay man, I got this advice from a legal friend who explained they are seriously bad at paperwork.
Also they can't do much if it does not land up in court!
So here it is!
Apeal with a lettaer accepting the guilt but pleading for discount! Then await responce!
If they are sharp lik I found with Vreestate cops they will phone or wright back and give you a discount!
Then reply again requesting further discount. On account of high cost of living these days or taxes!
Then wait again, chances are they will not respond!

As long as you keep good records and send all your correspondence via registered post you are in the clear when you do get called to court!

Just a word of advice though never lie and never give a stoeped excuse!
I had many fines and have managed to pay very small amounts for all of them and have not needed to pay for at least 75% of them!
Just do not be hardegat! Remember the person you are dealing with did not give you the fine and if you are polite and friendly they want to help you!
