Tractor won't rev to red line

Hi Guys,
Advice needed on my tractor. A E90 330d.

When revving the engine in neutral it will redline into the limiter at 4250 rpm.
Driving and "foot in die hoek" in first gear or any gear and 3250 rpm is the maximum that the motor will give.

Inter cooler has been changed as it was cracked an leaking.
Oil consumption is minimal, fuel consumption is 6.7 liters per 100 Kms
The car has 106,000 Kms on an I bought it second hand. Previous owners neglected this beauty.
Any advice will be most appreciated.:ty:

Where do you live? I would suggest getting the error codes read, could point you in the right direction...

As a test I disconnected the MAP sensor on the intake manifold and I found my 330d was producing zero boost and also failed to rev up past 3000rpm. But was still somewhat driveable.

Is your car boosting at all?

Like Executer said. Get some codes read first of all.

I'm in Kimberley, the car is at BMW Soverign motors at the moment,
Will get them to do a code read out.:ty:

Is it a manual or auto? if auto maybe its gearbox (up-shifting to early)

Hi Speedy,
It's an auto box, on hard acceleration the box kicks down a couple of gears then you have to ease of the accelerator to get it to up shift to pick up speed.

Thanks Andy,
Will follow your advise an check the map sensor and boost pressures, along with fault code read outs.
Up to 120 kph the car pulls well, then runs out off steam an tops out at 170 kph.
Bought the car with the problem BUT I JUST LOVE IT AND WANT TO GET IT SORTED OUT.:inlove:

Sounds more like vacuum leaks. However iirc the E90's have electric turbo actuators so shouldn't be plagued by vacuum problems.

Not enough info to diagnose anymore. Google the error codes that come up.

The local BMW dealership mechanic checked the turbo, all the electric connections and wiring is ok. Power an control signal to the electic a curator on the turbo is working.
The actuator does not move when tested.
Either the actuator is burnt out or the variable fan is seized.
So it looks like a new turbo is required.
Any suggestions before I lay out R20,000 on this repair.

Dont be too hasty, is the turbo noisy, normally you can hear when there's something amiss with the actual turbo! Try getting a second opinion before you lay out all those sheets!!
