Tracking devices options

What are the decent (insurance approved) tracking devices at the moment.

I would like recommendations on the ffg:

1) Cheapest device that would satisfy insurance requirements
2) Best value for money device/options (ito features such as on-line tracking, etc)

Any suggestions and/or recommendations. Been with Tracker for 10 years now and need to relook at options.

If took out insurance with Outsurance, they fitted a Tracker free of charge (Worth R2000) and i pay R70 a month for the Tracker track and retrieve subscription.

cTrax (GPS-based I believe they have online tracking)

or

Matrix (GSM-based last time I checked, possibly that the more expensive devices is GPS-based. Most importantly, they have their own recovery team and don't rely on tax-sponsored services)

Car track, had it installed in both the BMW and Navara.

Why I think they are the best - as explained by a Insurnace broker who gets no comission from Car Track but R450 from Tracker:

1. Car track test their units batteries over the airwaves twice a month and sends you the report. (Tracker does this once a year)
2. They install a 'dummy' unit which is easy to find, then really hide the real unit.
3. Cost per unit: R1000 and R80p/m subsccription or a 3 year contract where you dont buy the unit but pay R170p/m
4. Bought units are transferable between vehicles should you buy a new vehicle.
5. First installment is free. (If you change vehicles you pay R300 for installment)
6. Tracking is live and ALWAYS on (You dont have to phone them and report your car is stolen to activate the tracking unit)
7. You can monitor on the web your vehicles location.
8. You can set preferred areas, meaning if your vehicle moves outside the said district they call you to enquire if all is
9. They come to a time and place that suits you to do the installation.

Been with them now for over 2 years and definately cannot complain about the service!
