Track days

Hi Guys, I'm told that I need to take my bike on a track so that I will not have an urge to speed on public roads :)
Does anyone know of any bike track day around jhb in September? or any recommendation on which track to visit? Not a busy one, I'm still a new-bee and any help to build my riding skill will be much appreciated

Zwartkops supertrax? Once a month. Pretty sure bikes go as well and it is split into classes. Should be safe and quite affordable - think around R600 for the day?

Hi Lebofa

Red Star Raceway hosts track days 4 days a week on most weeks. Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Weekday track days are R700 and and weekends are R900 for the day. They have a fairly up to date schedule on their website. The track is located about 50 mins drive from JHB on the N12 towards Witbank, just after Delmas.

Kyalami doesn't arrange their own track days for bikes. You need to own a Porsche for that privilege. However a company called Track Daze arrange bike only track days at Kyalami two to three times a year. The next one is somewhere in the beginning of September, the 10th IIRC. Riding Kyalami comes at a premium obviously, normally about R4800 for the day, but believe me when I say it's worth every penny and more.
Track Daze also hosts track day events at Phakisa freeway near Welkom, next one is coming up in August IIRC.

All of these events have riders of varying skills divided into classes to match their abilities. A, B and C class. A class for your fastest riders, B for intermediate and C for beginners. Both B and C class will have instructors out on track so if ever you don't feel comfortable tag along behind one of them so that you can learn the track as well as the racing lines through the corners.

Drop me a PM if you would like any more information or guidance to get you to your first track day. I guarantee you won't regret it and you will be amazed to see what a bike is actually capable of, and why you need a race track to truly enjoy a superbike.
