Track Day Rim & Tyre Sizes ???

Hey Guys

I want to start doing some track dayz soon and need some advise on whats the best size of Rim & Tyre to use for the track for my Ride and maybe where to source them.

I know few of you guys in BMW club do quite a few track days maybe you can point me in the right direction :fencelook:

If you don't have up sized brakes then 17's should work best but will look too small on your 335i so I'll say 18's and OEM cause they lighter than most aftermarket rims unless you paying big money

I Was also thinking 18s with semis,,,will do the brakes soon first then maybe will be able to get a better feel for what size will be optimal :fencelook:

or you can slap 15's on the back with standard road tyres and have some serious fun!!

if you going to the track worried about how your car will look you doing it wrong

get the smallest wheel that will clear your brakes...

15's will not clear the discs and calipers. I would think that 17's are probably the smallest you can go if you still have the original brake setup on the car. I would go with 17's or 18's and semi slicks.

but also have an idea of what tire size you will need because small wheels generally are limited in width...

you will probably find 17 or 18" will be the best

I have heard good things about 1st race in JHB...

I can get you some Yokohamas if you like :) you will also need to look at your suspension unless you only visiting the drag strip... I can help you out with suspension obviously  PM me so we dont pollute the thread...

Thanks ,,,For sure will be doing shocks and brakes first then rims and tyres ,,,please pm a price list on your koni shocks for my car if you can plz ,,,think the sport shocks will be best cause i have alot of roll on the car now need it be alot harder :ty:

Also does anyone know where to get proper Roll Cage Foam ??? The only foam i got was from ATS but its not full its half cut foam looks abit messy :fencelook:

starting going to trackdays and using semi's is doing yourself a huge disservice.

no offense intended, but the grip of semi's are way beyond your abilities at present, and will hide a lot of track driving "errors".

you will be a million times better track driver if you can first get to the limit and over, consistantly and smoothly, on street tires.

Thanks ,,will keep it in mind,,,will prob do brakes and suspension first then hit the track and see how it goes then will look at the tyres

I agree somewhat with Kabal but just be aware than the suspension setup will need to change when you change over to semis as they behave very differently :)
