I have so much to comment on this thread. I'm like a little kid when it comes to stuff like this. Not that I know everything but I get excited to see builds like this. They look so nice & shiny when they are new.

Your plan is spot on. For an endurance car this is the perfect way to go. I have been running the same motor for almost 4/5 years worth of racing and it's because we leave it unopened and do regular services on it. They really are bulletproof. We do sprints all year long and 2/3 endurance races per year. Are you planning on competing in SAES?

Where did you get the seat from? I'm due for a new one and I like the fiberglass moulded ones compared to the tube frame.

Pleeeeaaaase tell me where you got the wheel stud kit from, can't seem to find anything locally.
We didn't make use of studs for ours we just screwed in M12 x 1.5mm bolts from the back of the hubs and fixed them with locktite. Had no issues so far.

how did you install your oil temp gauge sender? Which brand is it? Looks like VDO from the pic.

Also looks the oil pressure switch is mounted on the oil housing above.

Hi Kingr.

I used an adaptor for the vdo oil pressure sensor. It houses the original oil pressure sensor as well so it keeps the bmw system warnings. The vdo oil temp sensor sits just below the op sensor in the same adaptor.

I thought about using a sump plug adaptor for oil temp but wasn't 100% confident on the strength of the plug.

First time out with the car.
Mechanically perfect. Temps and oil pressure was constant which I am very happy about. Breaks were great.

Handling on the otherhand wasn't great. Battled with mid corner understeer. Unfortunately the car went from the workshop straight to the track so we didn't have much testing time other than some sprint races before the endurance race.

Will tinker over the holidays and see where we can improve.

All in all we did about 3hrs seat time.

Had a jol. Which was the main aim.

WOW, your car looks great! Yes its all about having fun.

Understeer is difficult to identify, I've fitted a harder rear anti roll bar and still not 100% happy … but its a work in progress and getting there slowly.

For me, experience is most valuable, as you mentioned that time in seat time!
