Utter KAK - dull, dreary un-imaginative appliance. With tears in my eyes I ask you WHY??? What would possess you to torture yourself by having to needlessly drive this thing unless you are a farmer and simply want to load your family and a few sheep in the back for your Sunday trip to the NG Kerk.

I wish I had a rand for every time I have been stuck behind one of these miserable over rated asthmatic vehicles plodding along unsteadily taking up valuable road space.

God man ! what are you trying to say about yourself? Because this vehicle shouts to the world that you are an unimaginative loser with zero imagination.

By an X5 - if you want the best 4x4 then get a Range Rover (used supercharged can be had for relatively little money).

Toyota's suck balls and the mere mention of them on a performance car forum sends shivers down my spine ----- Ughhhhhhh

Thank You for your narrow minded point of view and pointless comment!

Took the family for a test drive, and although they were very very impressed with the space (and the extra row of seats), wife found it to be lacking extras, compared to her Rav that has all the bells and whistles.
Haven't looked at the Prado as it out of my price range. Maybe a secondhand one will be more affordable.

Thanks everyone for all your comments.

Erm I think for the price of a fortuner ders really nothing to beat it currently, the interior may be a little dull but this isnt a bmw obviously, for the price of a new fortuner u can get a second hand x3 n that isn't very good in the bush either n it has less space, the new fortuner does look pretty good, i never liked the fortuner either to be honest but after using 1 numerous times, I wish i had 1. Its neva going to be a Range Rover, its a spacious family suv and you know it's never going to let you down no matter were u go. I don't see the point of an x5 , its a huge ass suv that you need to keep on city roads n if u dare to take it off road ul b more afraid of stone chips then anything else.

I really don't see the attraction to a fortuna.
X3 xDrive20d R 578 629 consumption 5.0 emissions 131 0-100km/h 8.1s
Fortuna 3.0D-4D 4x4 R 523 900 consumption 8.6 emissions 228 0-100km/h 11.8s

And I have used them alot for work. They are work bakkies dolled up. It is for the plaas jappie is all South Africans that wants a bakkie but needs a car.

As for off-road ability. Please. I took my wives X5 (being very careful not to scratch it) further up a 4x4 trail than a 4x4 hilux bakkie driven by a friend. I know people that have bought 4x4s so they could go on an "offroad" holiday only to be camping next to an avis hyundi Etos with 5 german tourists in it.

Oh, and what ever you do don't try and look up the NCAP rating... there isn't one.
It is not even sold in some countries due to not meeting safet standards.
I speak from experience regarding its road holding on bad roads. I handed the keys back to one and took a hilux instead, far better handling.
