Ok, ok...
Those keys are not the highest tech around, so it would not take a locksmith long to open it or alternatively take YOU long to hack out the barrel and find a replacement barrel and key.

Towbar key... I didn't know there is a towbar key.

What if the previous owner didn't gave me one? O and how much do you guys think to get a spare key from BMW?

Though BMW supply the towbar, it's just a normal little key that is not very good quality. I would really not bother BMW with a request like this.

Just a stupid question, but where have you looked for this key?

Mine are both stuck into the insert inside the sparewheel. They look like little red discs from the top.

ja mine is the black one , but no keys hey , are these all supplied with individual keys , do you think they could trace the key number with the chassis number of the car ?

Is this towbar on the E46 or E90 ?

I couldn't find my E90's towbar key, so I just removed the whole unit. It came out easy enough with just 2 bolts. Mind you that unit is HEAVY ! But I have to admit its still a schelp to get under the car each time you need to put it on or take it off.

I need to find my keys and make my life a bit easier ...
