Hi
Just wanted to do a formal intro
Total newbie
First bmw
First car in 10+ yrs

Was always an N54 lover since its inception

Recently a below market priced 2010 e93 335i dct
160k km became a available and decided was time.

Was a Lil rough but was in budget

I'm definitely enjoying it (racing every opportunity I get, forgot how it feels) , put on a good few thousand in the two weeks of owning it but have had some is issues already costing more thousands than the few thousand km I put on.

Took it for a health check at a very reputable shop
Faults were identified.
+50k estimate for the repairs required.

I was ready to put it on Gumtree there and then in his reception.
But he advised that the next one I buy will have to have these repairs done any way,and it was still fine to drive and do 1 repair at a time

Self employed, small to medium electrical consulting and contractors, not too easy to fork put a 50k mostly for leaks, I decided to search the net.

I think I'm In the right place after spending a few days and nights on this forum as a guest.

I hope all the guys don't mind me picking their brains so Lil more than often

Current faults :
Tappet cover cracked
Diff leaking
Sump leaking
Dct sump leaking
Dct oil temperature warning coming on every now and then.
Pieces of previous v belt in sump suspected
Etc

Already done:
Major service
V belt, all pulleys and tensioners
Refurbished steering wheel
Refurbished all seats and trim
Start button (not yet installed)
New seat belts(not yet installed}
Some strings for roof(not yet installed)

Plans:
Gt all issues resolved(First)
Lots and lots of advice from fellow forum members
Duel intake filters
Charge pipe
Down pipes
Duel intakes
Jb4
Water meth
Upgraded intercooler
Upgraded turbo internals
Etc

Welcome...

Congrats on your car, some pics would be good...

Looking at your list of issues, I think 50k will be a bit much to get it running beautifully again, it can be done in different parts though. I would focus on the gearbox oil leak first, typically when the overheat sign comes up it means the oil level is low so you could have lost a bit of oil over the years.

The valve cover is going to set you back a few bobs as well. Try finding one from a breakers yard. Where about are you based? Can recommend a Mech in durban and gp who are trustable to help you out here.
